Finally, Samsung released the CDMA version of its most popular phone – Corby in India. The phone is to be made available with special offers with almost all Indian CDMA operators. Here are the full features, specs, price and bundled offers of the phone:

Is the handset network locked, like CDMA ones usually are?

No its not network locked. You can use any OMH CDMA RUIM in this phone.
@Prax, Deepak is right. Samsung Corby is an Open handset(Or OMH compliant) which means it should work with the OMH SIM card of any CDMA operator – let it be Tata, Reliance, Virgin, MTS or BSNL. Going forward most of the CDMA handsets would be OMH enabled. Samsung has already launched a model before Corby speed called Mpower 699 and they have announced 2 more models in coming months. I hope, other companies are listening
My dad need a new cdma mobile with larger screen minimum 2″ and long Talk time. Can anybody suggest a phone.

May be you can go for Nokia 6275 CDMA
I asked many shops Nokia CDMA mobiles is not in production now, so got a samsung hero which was the only piece they had. My dad is going to GSM next month so will have to buy new phone again. We have bought 8 mobiles so far Going to get 9th one.
