Flagship smartphones from Google with its second installments are out. No wonder, they are just the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL. The last launched Pixel phones had the advantage of pure stock android and an outstanding camera. Both the new phones are identical when internals and externals are compared. Only the display size and battery capacity differ on the devices. Both the devices feature “Active Edge” functionality which lets you squeeze the side bezels to invoke Google Assistant. Machine learning has been introduced to learn your gestures and act accordingly. IP67 certification is also onboard and stereo front-firing speakers are also an added feature.
Google Pixel 2
The Pixel 2 is 7.8 mm thick with an overall weight of 143 grams. The display is a 5 inch AMOLED screen with 1080 x 1920 resolution and sports pixel density of 441 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Out of the box, you get Android Oreo 8.0. Inside the Pixel 2, you have Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with an Octa-core CPU and features Adreno 540 GPU.
Memory options are available with 64GB/128GB internal and 4GB of RAM which is not further expandable.
The camera on the back is a 12.3 MP sensor which comes with f/1.8 aperture. It also features OIS and EIS including laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. On the front, you have a regular 8 MP selfie camera which does record 1080p videos.
Connectivity feature is just basic and lacks a 3.5 mm audio jack. The fingerprint sensor is rear mounted along with accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer sensors. The pixel 2 supports fast charging on a 2700 mAh non-removable battery. Will be available in kinda blue, just black and clearly white colors to choose from.
Google Pixel 2 XL
The pixel 2 XL weighs 175 grams with 7.9 mm thickness. Comes with P-OLED 6 inch display which sports 1440 x 2880 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 538 ppi. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the top.
Internals remains the same with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, Octa-core CPU with Adreno 540 GPU.
Internal memory available is 64GB/128GB with 4 GB of RAM with no rooms for further expansion.
Camera’s are also same with 12.3 MP rear sensor and 8 MP front sensor.
Connectivity features remain the same with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.0, USB type C, GPS, and NFC.
The Pixel 2 XL also supports fast charging and carries a non-removable 3520 mAh battery. Will be available in quite black, very silver and really blue colors to choose from.
Availablity & Price in India
Google’s Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL will cost Rs.61000 and Rs.73000 respectively for the 64 GB variant. 128 GB of the same will cost Rs.70000 and Rs.82000 respectively. Pre-Orders will begin on October 26 whereas the Pixel 2 will be available from November 1 and Pixel 2 XL will be available from November 15.
